Calculators killed mental arithmetic, likewise computers might kill art
I were to read an article by Dick Pountain on this topic – Calculators killed mental arithmetic and now computers might kill art and I was very much inspired by his views. It seems he was to attend a show of sculptures and every sculpture around there was mind blowing. All he had in his mind was “a great artist should have done this”.
At the end of the place there was a note saying all these were built by a special technological process where a 3D printer pours cement mixture layer by layer to bring out the sculpture designed in the computer using CAD/CAM .Isn’t this a threat to our traditional way of art. Doesn’t this put the real talents in vain? Making things inexpensive is not everything. Some rebels the value of art. I would like people to share their views on it here.
