Domesticated Animals
The cow and sheep are the most well known domesticated animals. They provide milk and meat. They feed on grass and leaves. Bull and donkeys were domesticated and made to pull carts filled with goods. Horses were domesticated as war time animals to carry the soldiers who fought wars. Even the large elephants were domesticated to carry kings fight wars and pull heavy objects. Trained pigeons were used for sending written messages from one place to another. Parrots and other pet birds were kept as companions by humans. Chicken duck and other fowl were grown for food. We will use animals from here on to denote all living organism that are not plants. So bird’s fish and insects will come under the term animals. More than 2000 years ago Aristotle a great Greek philosopher studied animals and plants. He classified animals based on how they reproduced. Some animals reproduced by laying eggs which then hatched into offspring. Some animals directly gave birth to their offspring in the full and final form.
