Sales of personal computers in the current year will grow by 20%
Gartner analysts have revised upwards the forecast of annual global sales of personal computers. Compared to the Year 2009 they are expected to grow by 20%. The main growth will occur in the sector of mobile devices, as well as notebooks and netbooks, analysts say. In December, Gartner predicted an increase of 13,3%.
In 2009, sales of mobile devices totaled 55% of worldwide sales of personal computers, and by 2012 their share will reach 70%. Sales of desktop systems will grow very little, and the growth will occur mainly in emerging markets. Deliveries netbooks will grow, but slower than in previous years - they are affected by competition from a new generation of tablet PCs and laptops with supereconomy processors, analysts believe.
According to preliminary estimates Gartner, in 2010 the world could be sold to 10.5 million Tablet devices, as with the traditional keyboard, and purely sensory devices, the new generation. To access Web-PC applications no longer needed, and the emergence of new types of devices changes the whole PC market, analysts conclude.
