All stars radiate heat and light, because of the nuclear fusion happening in their cores. It is because of this reason that our sun is extremely hot and sends light and heat towards our earth. It takes about 24 hours for day and night to repeat again. That is the same time taken for the earth to complete one rotation about its axis.
